Description

This advanced internet course based on Chapter 9, Florida Building Code – Building 7th Edition (2020) Fire Protection Systems offers an in depth or advanced study for the Florida Professional Engineer designing fire protection systems under the 2020 FBC code. Since the FBC 8th Edition does not take effect until 12/31/23 this course is approved for the 2023 Florida PE license renewal.

The 2023 Florida PE license renewal Advanced Internet Course on Chapter 9, Building, Fire Protection Systems will use online reading of the Florida Building Code and an examination based on the reading as detailed below.  This PE PDH course includes 15 learning objectives, four review objectives and a 40 question exam on the professional engineer continuing education course.It is anticipated that the professional engineer will spend a varied amount of time depending on the length and complexity of the topics within Chapter 9. To accomplish all learning and review a total of 240 minutes of class time is required. Exam time will be in addition to class time.

·        Section 907 Fire Alarm and Detection Systems (15 minutes)

·        Section 908 Emergency Alarm Systems (15 minutes)

·        Section 909 Smoke Control Systems (15 minutes)

·        Section 910 Smoke and Heat Vents (15 minutes)

·        Section 911 Fire Command Center (10 minutes)

·        Section 912 Fire Department Connections (10 minutes)

·        Section 913 Fire Pumps (10 minutes)

·        Section 914 Emergency Responder Safety Features (10 minutes)

·        Section 915 Carbon Monoxide Detection (10 minutes)

In addition, pertinent provisions of the Florida Professional Engineer Licensure Act and Rules of the Florida Board of Professional Engineers will be linked to the reading of the 2020 FBC code and examination to enhance the professional engineer’s knowledge of his or her responsibilities in regard to the design of fire protection systems under the Florida Building Code.

Forty question multiple choice examination requiring advanced review and understanding of Chapter 9, Fire Protection Systems.  A score of 70% or higher is required to satisfactorily complete the examination and receive credit for the course.
