Description

The Florida Laws and Rules course satisfies the Florida Professional Engineer continuing education requirement of 1 hour of Florida Laws. This course applies to the Florida Professional Engineer 2023 renewal cycle. All Florida Professional Engineers are required to complete 1 PDH in Florida Law and Rules as part or your PE license renewal requirements.

The course is designed as an online distance learning interactive course that enables the practicing professional engineer to keep up to date on the legal aspects that govern the practice of engineering in the state of Florida.

This course is approved by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers as Florida Approved Course 0009804 and PDHNow is Florida Approved Provider 0006408.

The PDH engineering course meets the NCEES continuing education guidelines of "a course with clear purpose and objective that will maintain, improve, or expand the skills or knowledge relevant to the licensee's field of practice, " and is acceptable for credit in most jurisdictions.

This Florida Engineering Laws and Rules course is accepted for PDH credits for all states except New York.

Course Objectives

The primary objective of this engineering continuing education course in Florida Law and Rules is to familiarize the student with the recent changes to the laws and rules regulating the practice of engineering in the state of Florida.  The course will focus on changes to the laws and rules that have been implemented during the previous biennium.

Upon successful completion of the PDH course, the student will be well versed in all these changes and will have a better understanding of the disciplinary process.

  1. Rules of the Florida Board of Professional Engineers that were promulgated or repealed during the preceeding biennium
  2. Rules of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation that were promulgated or repealed during the proceeding biennium
  3. Laws that were promulgated or repealed in Chapter 471, F.S., the Florida Engineer Licensure Law and Chapter 455, F.S. the Florida statute relating to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation during the proceeding biennium
